Llano Bonito is more than just a piece of land – it's living proof that regeneration is possible. In the heart of the Puntarenas province of Costa Rica, a protected area is emerging that is bringing back lost biodiversity. A place of hope – and a promise to future generations.

How it all began.

In 2018, we stood on barren, lifeless earth. Where once dense rainforest rustled, there was nothing left – no birdsong, no shadows, no life. What began as a journey became a mission. Green Industry is an association of companies that are rethinking responsibility for their economic activities.

Our goal: To transform former pastureland back into vibrant forests. With local partners, scientific support, and deep conviction, the Llano Bonito Nature Reserve was created.

The project in stages.

SECURE AREAS

So far, 98 hectares of rainforest have been permanently protected. Further areas are planned.

PLANTING TREES

Over 22,000 native seedlings were planted with local experts - from Guanacaste to Kapok trees.

RETURN ANIMALS

Improvements to the habitat are leading to the return of wild animals - including monkey species, toucans, sloths and most recently even a jaguar.

PROTECT WATER

With the trees, the water returns. New spring areas emerge, stabilizing entire regions.

The project thrives on its people. Local workers from Quepos, Parrita, and the surrounding area plant, maintain, and protect the land – many with an agricultural background. Their work creates income, opportunities, and pride.
