COSTA RICA

A place where nature returns.

Llano Bonito is more than just a piece of land –
it is living proof that regeneration is possible.

In the heart of the province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica, a protected area is growing that is reclaiming lost diversity.

A place of hope – and a promise to future generations.

How it all began.

In 2018 we stood on bare, dead earth.
Where once dense rainforest rustled, there was nothing left – no bird call, no shade, no life.

What began as a journey became a mission.

Green Industry is an association of entrepreneurs who are rethinking responsibility for their economic activities.

Our goal: to transform former pastures into thriving forests.
With local partners, scientific support and deep conviction, the Llano Bonito Nature Reserve was created.

Our path: Renaturation in stages

Secure land

To date, 98 hectares of rainforest have been permanently protected, and further areas are already planned.

Planting trees

Over 22,000 native seedlings were planted alongside local experts – from Guanacaste to kapok trees.

Bringing animals back

By improving the habitat, the first wild animals are returning – including monkey species, toucans, sloths and, most recently, even a jaguar.

Safeguard freshwater ecosystems

With the trees, the water returns. New spring areas emerge, stabilizing entire regions.

INSIDES

The people behind the forest.

The project lives from its people.

Local workers from Quepos, Parrita and the surrounding area plant, maintain and protect the land – many with an agricultural background.

Their work creates income, perspectives – and pride.

Protection with heart and mind.

Why the project works

This project combines ecological impact with economic integrity:

  • All areas are secured and protected for decades

  • There are regular updates, monitoring & transparency reports

  • Reforestation is carried out with site-appropriate tree species – no monocultures

  • No greenwashing – but real renaturation

EFFECT

We are grateful for this – because they make the difference.

RELIABLE PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Thanks to Erik's on-site commitment, close support for the project in Costa Rica is assured. He is in direct contact with our local team and personally oversees all activities. In Germany, Tiffany Fath is your contact person – she works closely with Erik and the decision-making team.

NEW BASE IN THE RESERVE

We're building a small home for our team on site. This will allow us to work even more closely with the local people, keep projects on track and respond faster to challenges.

OPTIMISTIC OUTLOOK

We create habitats for endangered species, promote local employment, build partnerships, and secure new areas. With our own base on the ground, we’re building a lasting foundation for sustainable progress.

REALIGNMENT COMMUNICATION

The PR and website work is now handled by SINN & MARKE – a partner who translates our vision into words and impact. This collaboration brings a breath of fresh air, touches people, and creates resonance for what really matters.

INSIDES

Detailed transparency for your review.

Continuing to grow together.

Every share helps secure new areas, grow seedlings, and support local people. Because regeneration begins with a single square meter—and with your decision.
